OCC’s Business Continuity Management System Achieves Certification to ISO 22301

September 18, 2024

OCC is pleased to announce that on Monday, September 2, our organization achieved certification to ISO 22301 for our Business Continuity Management System (BCMS). This certification is issued by BSI, the business improvement and standards company.

ISO 22301 provides an internationally recognized framework for organizations to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and continually improve a documented BCMS to protect against, reduce the likelihood of and ensure recovery from disruptive incidents. Achieving this certification will help enhance OCC’s organizational resilience, improve risk management processes, ensure a systematic response to crises, and increase trust among stakeholders.

"Being recognized by a standards body validates the hard work and focus that OCC has had on resiliency for many years."
Clint Fransen – Executive Director, Business Continuity and Cyber Resilience

“Being recognized by a standards body validates the hard work and focus that OCC has had on resiliency for many years,” said Clint Fransen, Executive Director in Business Continuity and Cyber Resilience at OCC. “We can now share with our participant exchanges, Clearing Members, regulators, and the broader market that we have provided and will continue to provide operational stability in times of crisis or disaster events.”

The BCMS within OCC includes Financial Risk Management, Business Operations, Information Technology, Security Services, Corporate Risk Management, Corporate Compliance, Corporate Finance, Human Resources and Legal Services. Our BCMS aims to ensure the continued delivery of critical business functions and services in the event of a disruption, thereby safeguarding the interests of key stakeholders, reputation, and our value-creating activities. OCC achieved this certification after completing an extensive peer review by our auditors; we will continue to be actively monitored and audited annually to maintain the certification, which will stay in effect through 2027.
